What is Wood Primer?

It provides essential benefits such as hiding knots and imperfections, sealing stains, and improving adhesion for subsequent coats of paint. 

How to Use Dunn-Edwards DURA+™ Interior Wood Primer 

Surface Preparation: Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and other contaminants. Sand any rough areas or imperfections to create a smooth base for the primer. 

Application: Stir the primer thoroughly before use. Apply a uniform coat of Dunn-Edwards DURA+™ Interior Wood Primer using a high-quality brush, roller, or sprayer. Work in sections, ensuring even coverage without over-applying. 

Drying Time: Allow the primer to dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions. Typically, it dries to touch within 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on temperature and humidity. 

Sanding (Optional): If necessary, lightly sand the primed surface once it is fully dry to achieve a smoother finish. 

Topcoat Application: Once the primer is dry and sanded (if applicable), proceed with applying your chosen Dunn-Edwards paint for wood surfaces. The primer's excellent adhesion will ensure a durable and professional-looking finish. 

Other Tips 

Coverage: Dunn-Edwards DURA+™ Interior Wood Primer offers excellent coverage, typically covering 300-400 square feet per gallon. Apply additional coats if needed for optimal hiding and sealing. 

Environmentally Friendly: This water-based primer is ultra-low VOC, making it a responsible choice for indoor air quality and environmental impact. 

Stain Blocking: For surfaces with stubborn stains, apply multiple coats of primer or spot prime the affected areas before full application.
